Two things about me: I love medicine and I love people. Working in health care has truly made me see the value of a human life. I believe in doing all that is possible to fight for a life and I believe that each and every life is worth fighting for. This is what drew my attention to tuberculosis outbreaks in various parts of Africa. Certain agencies have claimed that eleven dollars is all it takes to treat one case of tuberculosis and carry out the treatment program to completion. Eleven dollars! That's it! Would people donate money if that number was less? What if it was more? What is the value of a single human life?
The purpose of this blog is to raise awareness about tuberculosis outbreaks in Africa. In America, tuberculosis incidences are almost nonexistent. In Africa, tuberculosis is a very real threat. Not only are there treatments for tuberculosis, but there are cures and there are vaccines. We have the means to wipe tuberculosis off the planet! All we have to do is be aware. And then act. That's why I made this blog. I want people to see what they can do to fight tuberculosis and why fighting it is so important. These are human lives and we have the opportunity to fight for them! This is something people need to know and I want to use this blog to get the word out.
